We’re looking for a…
Head of Partnerships
In our world that’s someone to drive new business growth for VCHRGD by identifying, qualifying, signing and launching new channel, energy-retailer and strategic account partnerships. This is a proactive hunting role focused on building pipeline from scratch, closing commercially attractive partnerships and handing them over cleanly once live.
Location Remote (UK)
Employment Full-time, permanent
Department Sales
Key Responsibilities
New partner acquisition and outbound prospecting
Build targeted prospect lists across retail, marketplace, installer, wholesaler, fleet, workplace, property, automotive and energy channels.
Create and run outbound activity including cold outreach, warm introductions, follow-up sequences, partner research and meeting booking.
Identify decision-makers, commercial drivers, customer journeys, integration needs and qualification criteria for each opportunity.
Develop a consistently full top-of-funnel so VCHRGD is not reliant on inbound opportunities or one-off introductions.
Represent VCHRGD professionally in first conversations and clearly explain the value of its connected hardware, software, installer network and UK support.
Energy retailer, co-sell and white-label partnerships
Originate and progress opportunities with energy suppliers, energy service providers and related technology partners.
Shape propositions covering charger supply, co-sell journeys, white-label supply, tariff-compatible charging, installer referrals and joint customer support.
Capture partner requirements including customer journey, data exchange, technical integration, reporting, service levels, marketing activity and launch expectations.
Work with technical and product colleagues to understand feasibility, implementation effort, API requirements, tariff compatibility and operational support impact.
Ensure signed energy partnerships have a clear route to launch, ownership model and handover plan.
Channel, marketplace and strategic account development
Build and close relationships with new commercial channels, marketplaces, comparison sites, car leasing providers, retailers, fleets, property groups and workplace charging buyers.
Qualify each opportunity for revenue potential, margin, implementation complexity, brand fit, partner capability and customer impact.
Prepare tailored presentations, commercial proposals, pitch decks and business cases using input from commercial, marketing, operations and technical teams.
Match VCHRGD’s proposition to the partner’s route to market, customer base, operational model and commercial priorities.
Maintain momentum from discovery through proposal, negotiation, decision, contract and launch planning.
Commercial structuring and negotiation
Work with the Commercial Director on pricing, margin, commission, rebate, referral, co-marketing, exclusivity and contract-term options.
Understand what good commercial terms look like and identify when legal, finance, operations or technical review is required.
Challenge low-quality opportunities where revenue, margin, support burden or implementation effort does not justify the deal.
Keep clear records of commitments, assumptions, dependencies and risks discussed during negotiations.
Support a commercially disciplined approach to growth, balancing speed with margin, service quality and operational readiness.
Pipeline, CRM and forecasting discipline
Own CRM hygiene for the new-business partnership pipeline, including accurate stages, next actions, contacts, values, close dates and probabilities.
Provide clear pipeline reporting and forecasting to the Commercial Director and wider leadership team.
Use evidence-based qualification and close-date management rather than optimistic assumptions.
Maintain a regular cadence of prospecting, meeting follow-up, proposal progression and closing activity.
Flag stalled, risky or poorly qualified opportunities early and recommend the right next action.
Launch handover and partnership playbook
Hand over signed and onboarded partners with the context required for account management, operations, marketing and customer support to run the relationship well.
Document the agreed commercial terms, contacts, customer journey, technical requirements, launch plan, reporting needs and open actions.
Support early launch activity until ownership has transferred cleanly and the partner is live.
Capture lessons learned from each deal and turn them into a repeatable new-business partnership playbook.
Share market feedback, partner objections and competitive insight with the Commercial and Marketing Directors.
The type of person we’re looking for…
Essential qualifications and experience
Minimum five years’ experience in B2B new-business sales, partnerships, channel development or strategic account acquisition.
Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating and closing partnership or channel deals from scratch rather than only managing inherited accounts.
Genuine appetite for cold outreach, pipeline generation and the discipline required to create opportunities consistently.
Strong commercial judgement, including confidence discussing margin, pricing, referral models, commissions, rebates and contract terms.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to pitch clearly to senior commercial, operational and technical stakeholders.
Strong CRM discipline and the ability to maintain accurate pipeline records, forecasts and activity reporting.
Comfort operating in a scale-up environment with limited process, changing priorities and the need to build systems as the role develops.
Ability to work remotely with high levels of ownership, structure and follow-through.
Confidence coordinating with marketing, operations, product, technical and customer-support colleagues to move deals forward.
Willingness to travel within the UK for partner meetings, industry events and internal working sessions when required.
Desirable experience
Experience in EV charging, energy, automotive, renewables, connected hardware, marketplaces, infrastructure or technology-enabled services.
Experience selling through partners such as energy retailers, wholesalers, installers, marketplaces, fleets, property businesses or automotive channels.
Understanding of co-sell, white-label, referral, reseller, affiliate, marketplace or strategic alliance models.
Experience working with API, software, tariff, customer-journey or operational integration requirements as part of a commercial partnership.
Experience creating pitch materials, partner business cases, commercial models and launch plans.
Familiarity with installer-led, wholesale or hardware fulfilment models.
Experience in a high-growth business where process, reporting and playbooks had to be built while selling.
Existing network across energy, EV, automotive, property, fleet or workplace charging channels.
Our ideal candidate would be…
Hunter mindset Creates opportunities proactively and keeps outbound activity moving every week.
Commercially sharp Understands value, margin, risk and deal structure rather than chasing logos at any cost.
Structured operator Runs an organised pipeline with clear stages, next actions, dates and evidence.
Confident communicator Pitches clearly and adapts the message for commercial, technical and operational audiences.
Resilient Handles rejection, slow cycles and cold outreach without losing momentum.
Low-ego collaborator Brings internal teams in early and uses their input to improve deal quality.
Strategic thinker Looks beyond one deal and builds routes to repeatable partner growth.
Detail-conscious Captures assumptions, commitments, dependencies and handover information accurately.
Self-managing Works remotely without daily oversight and maintains personal rhythm and accountability.
Market-aware Feeds competitor, partner and customer insight back into the business.
What we ideally want from this role in the long run…
New channel, marketplace, energy-retailer or strategic account partnerships signed and launched in line with agreed targets.
A consistently healthy pipeline with balanced coverage across short, medium and longer-term opportunities.
CRM records are accurate enough for leadership to forecast from without extensive rechecking.
Partnership proposals are commercially sound, clearly structured and reviewed by the right internal owners.
Signed partners are handed over with clear context, terms, launch actions and ownership.
New-business outreach is regular, targeted and measurable rather than sporadic.
A repeatable partnership acquisition playbook is documented and improved throughout the year.
Commercial feedback from the market is captured and used to improve propositions, pricing and partner messaging.
Internal colleagues experience the role as organised, direct and constructive.
Working Arrangements
The role is remote within the UK, with occasional travel for partner meetings, industry events and in-person working sessions with the Commercial and Marketing Directors.
The role reports to the Commercial Director and will work closely with marketing, operations, technical operations, customer support and senior leadership. Compensation structure, commission or bonus arrangements and any equity eligibility are to be confirmed separately.
