VCHRGD accelerates growth as EV charging technology business enters next phase of expansion

EV charging technology company accelerates its evolution beyond hardware with 200% year-on-year growth, international expansion, connected software developments and strengthened strategic partnerships.

VCHRGD, the EV charging technology business, is entering the next phase of its evolution, transforming from a successful charging hardware business into an integrated charging technology company.

This next phase comes after achieving 200% year-on-year growth, reaching profitability in 2026, completing a successful funding round and securing its first international licensing agreement.

Since launching in 2021, VCHRGD has established itself as one of the UK's fastest-growing businesses in the EV charging sector. Today, the company is evolving beyond its origins as a hardware business, building an integrated EV charging platform that combines connected charging technology, intelligent software, strategic energy tariff partnerships and specialist support services, and is driven by an ambition to make EV charging easier for installers, wholesalers, fleets, workplaces and homeowners alike.

While reliable charging technology remains the foundation of the business, VCHRGD's long-term strategy extends well beyond the charger itself. Through continued investment in software, services and strategic partnerships, the business is creating a broader proposition that helps customers optimise charging, enables partners to deliver greater value and positions VCHRGD at the centre of an increasingly connected EV charging ecosystem.

Growing through multi-sector, long-term partnerships

VCHRGD’s success to date has been built through long-term partnerships across the electrical, fleet and energy sectors.

Working alongside leading energy providers including Octopus Energy and So Energy, the company has developed smart tariff integrations that help customers significantly reduce charging costs while giving installers and wholesalers a stronger commercial proposition.

Those partnerships extend across charge point management providers, fleet organisations, leasing brokers, vehicle manufacturers and a nationwide network of installers and wholesalers, creating an ecosystem that enables partners to secure more business while delivering a better customer experience.

As the EV charging market matures, reliability and support have become increasingly important purchasing considerations for installers, fleet operators and end users alike.

Today, less than 1% of VCHRGD chargers sold require replacement, while 97% of customer reviews are rated five stars, reinforcing the company's reputation for delivering dependable technology backed by exceptional installation and aftersales support.

Looking beyond hardware

While connected charging technology remains at the heart of the business, VCHRGD's next phase of growth is focused on expanding the value it delivers beyond the charger itself.

Recent investment will accelerate the development of connected software and value-added services that complement the company's hardware and partner ecosystem. The first example of this is the introduction of grid flexibility services, due to launch in Q3 2026, which will intelligently adjust charging based on grid demand, helping customers reduce charging costs while creating new recurring revenue opportunities for the business.

That broader proposition is also reflected in how VCHRGD is taking its technology to market. Having successfully built the business through installers and wholesalers, the company is now preparing to launch its direct-to-consumer proposition, giving homeowners the ability to purchase a complete charging solution directly from VCHRGD while continuing to strengthen its established trade partner network. Again, this is expected in Q3 2026.

Finally, the company's ambitions extend beyond the UK. VCHRGD has recently secured its first international licensing agreement, enabling its charging technology to enter the Australian market through a local partner. The agreement demonstrates the adaptability of VCHRGD's technology and provides a platform for future international opportunities.

Supporting all of this is continued investment in people. Recruitment is underway across engineering, customer support, operations and commercial roles, ensuring the business has the expertise and capacity to support its expanding technology platform and growing partner network.

Fraser Koefman, Commercial Director at VCHRGD, said:

"Everything we've achieved has been built alongside our partners. Whether that's installers, wholesalers, fleets, technology providers or energy companies, we've always believed that long-term growth comes from growing in conjunction with our partner network.

We've worked hard to build a proposition that's reliable, commercially appealing and properly supported, and that's reflected in the relationships we've developed across the industry. As we expand our technology, software and service capabilities, that commitment to our partners will remain at the heart of everything we do."

Phil McDermott, Executive Chairman at VCHRGD, added:

"The EV charging market is entering a new phase. The businesses that succeed are those that are built on sustainable foundations, who listen to customers and invest for the long term. That's exactly what we've done.

"We've reached profitability while continuing to achieve notable growth, completed our growth funding round and are now investing in the people, technology and services that will define our next chapter.

Chapter one was establishing product-market fit. Chapter two is about scaling a sustainable, profitable technology business that can play a significant role in the future of EV charging."

As the UK continues its transition towards electric mobility, VCHRGD believes the future of charging will be shaped not simply by hardware, but by integrated technology, intelligent software, trusted partnerships and exceptional customer support.

With a growing partner ecosystem, continued investment and a clear long-term strategy, the company believes it is well positioned to play an increasingly important role in the UK's evolving EV charging landscape.
