The opportunity: Strengthening Kelvelec’s independent, most suitable charger model

Kelvelec entered the EV sector around six years ago, but the business has evolved rapidly ever since.

During that time, its specialist EV portfolio has expanded from just three brands to more than 20, giving wholesalers access to everything they need for residential, workplace and commercial charging projects.

Rather than promoting a single manufacturer, Kelvelec's team works alongside wholesalers and installers to recommend the most appropriate solution for every project.

That independent approach has helped build long-term trust across the industry.

Jim Knight, Business Development Manager at Kelvelec, explained:

"We're there to help wholesalers offer the right products without them needing to hold huge amounts of stock. We act as an extension of their warehouse while giving them access to specialist EV charging expertise."

About Kelvelec

For more than 20 years, Kelvelec has worked with electrical wholesalers of all sizes to source specialist products without the constraints of minimum order quantities or lengthy lead times.

From its single distribution centre in Essex, the business has built a reputation for next-day delivery, technical expertise and trusted relationships across the UK wholesale market.

As demand for EV charging infrastructure has grown, so too has Kelvelec's role.

Rather than simply supplying charge points, the company now provides wholesalers with complete EV infrastructure solutions, combining chargers, mounting systems, foundations,  software and accessories into one straightforward package.

That commitment to offering the right solution, backed by responsive support, made VCHRGD an essential addition to its portfolio.

Finding the right charging partner

Kelvelec was introduced to VCHRGD through mutual partner e.Park Engineering before inviting the team to demonstrate the product range.

Alongside the hardware itself, discussions quickly centred around something equally important: channel strategy.

Both businesses wanted to build a partnership that supported electrical wholesalers without competing against them.

Jim said:

"We work best where there are clearly defined channels, and VCHRGD immediately understood the value we bring into electrical wholesale."

"They're a growing business like we are. They're easy to work with, they listen and they genuinely want to build partnerships rather than simply sell products."

Support that protects every business in the chain

While product quality remains important, Kelvelec believes aftersales support is often what determines whether a manufacturer succeeds in the wholesale market.

When installers encounter technical issues, delays affect everyone involved, from the distributor through to the wholesaler, installer and ultimately the EV driver.

Jim believes VCHRGD's responsive UK-based technical support makes a genuine difference.

"If we've got a technical question, or one of our wholesalers needs help, it's dealt with quickly."

"There are brands where issues can take one or even two weeks to resolve."

"With VCHRGD, problems are dealt with head on. My wholesaler is happy, their installer is happy and, most importantly, the end customer is happy."

A partnership built on shared values

For VCHRGD, the partnership has also helped simplify its growing wholesale operation.

As demand has increased, working with a specialist distributor has allowed the VCHRGD team to focus on supporting partners while Kelvelec manages day-to-day wholesale fulfilment.

Fraser Koefman, Commercial Director at VCHRGD, said:

"As a growing business, fulfilling lots of individual wholesale orders can become very resource-intensive."

"Kelvelec has become the perfect partner. They've made life much easier for both our commercial and operations teams while giving wholesalers a dedicated specialist they can rely on."

The partnership is also helping increase awareness of the VCHRGD brand throughout the wholesale channel.

Fraser added:

"Our goal is simple. We want to make it as easy as possible for Jim, Olivia and the Kelvelec team to sell VCHRGD."

Kelvelec recognise the importance of shared values too.

Olivia Eversley, Kelvelec’s Sales and Marketing Executive, said:

“By working with VCHRGD, we're able to offer a charger that we know is reliable, backed by a responsive team that shares our commitment to supporting wholesalers and installers.”

Looking ahead

Both businesses see significant opportunities as the EV charging market continues to mature.

Kelvelec plans to introduce VCHRGD to more wholesalers across its nationwide network while continuing to educate installers on the benefits of the range.

For Jim, the opportunity extends well beyond increasing sales.

"It's about helping more people understand what VCHRGD offers."

"The products are competitively priced, the support is excellent and the features are exactly what installers are looking for."

"As more wholesalers become familiar with the brand, that confidence grows, leading to repeat business, more installations and stronger long-term partnerships."

For two businesses built around technical expertise, responsive support and long-term relationships, that's exactly the kind of growth both are aiming for.
